Back to About Eleos

Claire is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, organisational leader and Founder of Eleos.

Her career spans more than two decades across mental health services, healthcare leadership and complex organisational systems. During that time, she has worked at every level of the system — from direct clinical work with individuals and teams to senior leadership roles responsible for workforce wellbeing, organisational culture and service transformation.

Clinical and organisational experience.

Alongside her clinical practice, Claire has held senior leadership positions within NHS organisations including Mental Health Trust, Integrated Care Board and NHS England settings. This combination of clinical and strategic experience gives her a unique understanding of both individual wellbeing and the wider organisational factors that influence it.

Claire's work has frequently taken place alongside organisations operating under significant pressure and scrutiny. This includes supporting policing teams involved in major investigations, organisations participating in public inquiries, safeguarding systems, education settings and other environments where people are required to make difficult decisions while carrying substantial responsibility.

She has supported leaders, teams and individuals exposed to distressing material, organisational scrutiny, high-profile events and emotionally demanding work. Through this experience, she has developed a deep understanding of how pressure affects people, teams and organisations over time, and how support can be designed in ways that feel genuinely useful and trusted.

Developing the Eleos approach.

Eleos was developed in response to repeated patterns seen across demanding systems — where people were often expected to carry significant responsibility, emotional exposure and psychological risk without sufficiently coherent structures around them to support safe functioning over time.

Claire's work has focused on developing psychologically informed systems that help organisations:

Recognise pressure earlier

Supporting organisations to identify emerging psychological and relational risk before it becomes normalised or entrenched.

Strengthen leadership containment

Helping leaders and managers hold complex responsibility more safely through clinically informed consultation and reflective support.

Respond more proportionately

Building the capacity to respond to complexity and risk in a measured, clinically governed way rather than reactively or inconsistently.

Embed support into organisational life

Developing systems that are visible, accessible and coordinated — integrated into how organisations function day to day.

Avoid fragmented or reactive approaches

Moving away from isolated, short-term interventions towards coherent support structures that strengthen over time.

This thinking continues to shape the clinical and organisational approach underpinning Eleos today.

Selected areas of work.

Claire has worked across a range of complex and high-profile environments involving sustained operational, emotional and organisational demands. This has included support connected to:

  • Major investigations and criminal proceedings
  • Public Inquiry processes
  • Policing and public sector environments
  • Leadership teams operating under sustained scrutiny and pressure
  • Individuals and families affected by complex and emotionally significant proceedings

Her work within these environments has contributed to wider recognition of the importance of clinically governed psychological support within complex operational and investigative settings.

Recognition.

Work connected to psychologically informed support within major investigations and policing environments has received national recognition relating to psychological support and wellbeing within policing contexts.

Claire remains particularly interested in how psychologically informed approaches can strengthen organisational responsibility, leadership functioning and safer systems of support within high-pressure environments.

Leading Eleos today.

Today, Claire leads Eleos's work across public inquiries, investigations, corporate and commercial organisational settings, while continuing to shape the organisation's wider vision of creating healthier, more sustainable and psychologically safer ways of supporting people at work.

Her work is grounded in the belief that psychologically informed support should strengthen professional functioning and organisational safety — not sit separately from the realities of the work itself.

Her approach places strong emphasis on containment, professional judgement, organisational realism, governance and proportionate support — with the aim of helping organisations and individuals navigate complexity more safely and sustainably over time.
